Elephant On Move At Prague Zoo (1965)

The Prague Zoo recently sent two of its resident elephants to a new home.

The Prague Zoo recently sent two of its resident elephants to a new home. Donna (Douanita) and Sita have taken up residence in Osnabrück Zoo in Germany in an effort to diversify the gene pool. Both zoos report the trip went fine and the two are settling in. Don't worry, the new baby elephants, Rudolf and Max, and their moms, Tamara and Janita, are still in Prague.

But this wasn't the first time Prague Zoo had to transport the large mammals. Back in 1965 the zoo's elephants had to be relocated to the Ostrava Zoo while the elephant pavilion was renovated. The elephant in the British Pathé clip doesn't seem too happy about getting boxed up for the ride. Some upbeat jazz music tries to make it seem a bit humorous, but the elephant is clearly not very amused.
