Spring is almost here, and the Prague Spring Music Festival can't be far behind. The classical music festival began in 1946 and is still running. Newsreel company British Pathé caught up with the festival's Jan Kubelík Violin Competition in 1949. The competitors in order were Alan Loveday from the UK, Victor Pikaizen of the USSR and Igor Bezrodny of Finland. The first two played Tchaikovsky and the third Brahms. Bezrodny won, Pikaizen was second and Loveday third.
